Surgery

The clinic has two operating theatres and offers a multitude of surgical procedures. Cesar Sastre has a general practitioner’s certificate in small animal surgery and has a particular interest in orthopaedics. In a rural area with numerous working dogs we see a constant stream of orthopaedic injuries, particularly cruciate ligament ruptures.

Medical Treatments

We keep up to date with the latest medical treatments available by our vets and nurses regularly attending professional development courses. Additionally, David Harding and Ruth Fermor are enrolled to study for a Royal College Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. Our 24 hour staffed surgery enables close monitoring and intensive therapy for very sick patients. We offer chemotherapy where there is a good chance that this will prolong both quality and quantity of life.

Exotic Animals

Lynn Broom has  a general practitioner’s certificate in exotic animal medicine and is happy to see reptiles and smaller mammals, and referrals from other practices. Lynn also has a keen interest in poultry and regularly sees pet chickens and other poultry. She is happy to advise on all aspects of the small flock. The practice is also part of the veterinary team caring for the primates at Monkey World.

Complementary Medicine

Jade Douglas regularly practices acupuncture predominantly for arthritis but also, on occasion, for other conditions such as cystitis. She regularly sees referrals from other practices in the area. She also has an interest in herbal medicine where this may be seen to complement conventional treatment. One of our farm vets, Peter Plate, also has an interest in homeopathy and has treated several companion animals with homeopathic remedies.
