Equipment

The practice offers herd and flock health plans for all species, using relevant computer software

(myhealthyherd, Interherd, Herd Companion, SAC sheep health plan). In house laboratory facilities enable us to carry out individual or bulk cell count testing, blood biochemistry, worm and fluke egg counts, silage dry matter etc, with the results reported on the same or the following day. We use mobile scanners, mainly for pregnancy diagnosis and fertility work in cattle, but can scan sheep, goats, pigs and alpacas as well.

Fees and prices

Most of the work is charged on an hourly rate, with discounts for prompt payment and routine work available. Optional fixed rate contracts, based on pence per litre or herd size, are available for fertility, mastitis and lameness. We also offer fixed rate contracts for beef and sheep work. Our medicine prices are regularly reviewed, compared with online sources and are competitively priced.

TB testing

We are as frustrated as you are about the current situation, but try to carry out the testing as painlessly and efficiently as possible. Tests are arranged well in advance, using handheld computers to record data and submitting the lists immediately.

Service

Six dedicated large animal vets provide the service to our farm clients.

We strive to give a friendly local service with prompt visits to emergencies,

sick animals and herd and flock problems, as well as specialised advice and

consultancy on health and production issues. To keep ourselves up to date,

all our vets attend courses and workshops on a regular basis – from local vet discussion groups to World Cattle Veterinary Congresses. We endeavour to be good team players when it comes to herd and flock health, working with you and other advisors, nutritionists and milking machine technicians wherever appropriate. We hold regular farmers’ meetings and workshops on topical issues.
